...lecture by Judge Holmes on Tuesday evening was very eloquent and delightful; but the audience filled Sever 11 to overflowing, so that a great many were turned away from the doors unable to secure even standing room. This is an occurrence which should not be allowed to happen again. The next lecture should be given in Sanders Theatre. When the Historical Society gave its war lectures two years ago, the theatre was used for the concluding evenings, and gave general satisfaction. With this as a precedent, there is no reason why Dr. Brooks should be compelled to address his audience...

...large and enthusiastic audience greeted Mr. O. W. Holmes, Jr., last evening. The hall was crowded and very many would be listeners were turned away. Judge Holmes spoke for an hour most eloquently and wittily. He said that he feared that he would be too enthusiastic in praise of his chosen profession. The first platitude of his discourse was that the law is a very good profession to go from. It has many doors, leading into politics, commerce, and the ministry even.
