...Institute a Summer of Service For many teenagers, the summer between middle school and high school is an awkward time. They're too young to get a real job and too old to be babysat. Well-to-do families can afford summer camps and exotic learning opportunities, but they're a minority. Shirley Sagawa, an expert on youth policy and an architect of the AmeriCorps legislation, is proposing a Summer of Service. There is, however, potential for more damage to the shuttle itself on re-entry into Earth's atmosphere when temperatures...

...friend wowed us with his military-issue resourcefulness (and Swiss army knife, which included a screwdriver). It shaped up to be a pretty big grill, so we all had to work together to hold pieces in place at awkward angles in midair. The teasing and cooperation that permeated the Catskill silence was more candid than anything from our sheltered Boston suburb...

...this leaves Congress in an awkward position. The House and Senate can slam the enemy's hatred and espouse the nation's values all they want. Maybe they can even end the war in Iraq. But when it comes to defining the legal rights of suspected terrorists, they're long out of the game...
