...gravely concerned that the budgetary axe is threatening the Gen. Ed. program at this time and in the immediate future. We believe that one of the primary and urgent responsibilities of Harvard's next president should be to secure an endowment expressly for the General Education program at about $10 million. This sum would ensure close to an additional $800,000 yearly for the Committee's operating budget, bringing its total resources to about $1.7 million annually. Approximately $1 million could fund the large courses that are interdisciplinary in nature or taught by professors outside Arts and Sciences...

Impetuosity, winner of the Blue Grass Stakes (many Blue Grass winners have gone on to win the Derby) has drawn the outside post position, and should he win, it could be considered a minor miracle. His stable mate. Twist the Axe, who ran second in the Blue Grass, is well placed in the middle of the field and his running style, rushing from behind in the last part of the race, is well suited to the Derby distance...

And when Danny chops wood, the sun produces flare effects on the axe's downward lunge, a pleasant bit of work-glorifying imagery. ...Hall of Infamy," a monthly feature on California's most strung-out freaks, the inaugural member is "Scorpion," who has just hacked his way out of the head of his alternate identity, Huey Lincoln Smith (1942-1969). He is pictured standing inside a ruptured skull, still holding the axe. The split-head image recurs in a story called "Last Hit." A girl shoots up and frazzles her mind until woolly monsters push through the top of her skull. The artwork in Bogeyman is the best in the series, coming to an uncanny height in the gaunt faces of terminal addicts...
