After Burr had carried back the kickoff from the 13 to the 37-yard line, he was replaced by Gilmore. Foster tried right tackle for eight yards, Wendell made ten more, and Foster tried an onside kick. Fleming secured the ball on Springfield's 30-yard line. Honhardt gained first down on one play, and then punted to Foster, who advanced from the 35 to the 47-yard line.
