...account of the temporary absence of Faulkner and Lunt, Marvin and Coach Wray rowed bow and 4 on the University crew yesterday; and in consequence the crew took only a short paddle up stream and back. The first hard work since the Annapolis race was given Saturday, when the first and second crews rowed over the three and three-eighths mile course, starting opposite the Weld boat house and finishing opposite Berkeley street. The second crew was given a start of about four lengths, but was unable to hold its lead, and was passed by the first boat near...

...victory. Although we have yielded first place to Princeton in the intercollegiate debating world, we are still among the leaders in the art of argumentation. It is the CRIMSON'S desire to see debating at Harvard soon placed on a sounder and more representative basis, which will bring us back to the place of pre-eminence we held so long. May last night's victory be but the forerunner of such movement and such a result...

During the past week Coach Wray has laid greater emphasis on form than on speed. Whenever the water has allowed, the crew has pulled over the long course from the boathouse to be basin and back, rowing mostly in short stretches, with a low stroke. McCall at second played in last year's form, and accepted six chances without an error. His clever stop back of second and quick throw to Simons which ended the game was a brilliant piece of work. Briggs was steady on first base and had fourteen put-outs to his credit. The batting of the team as a whole was not as strong as might have been expected...

...half-mile run is doubtful, with both S. Frissell '08 and M. D. Kirjassoff '10 for Yale and H. Watson '10, M. B. Van Brunt '08, W. F. Whitcher '09 and R. Warren '10 for Harvard. With both Spitzer and Williams back the mile-run looks bright for Yale. H. F. Hadden, Jr., '09, who won the event for the University last year, will be unable to run this year. Harvard's most promising men are H. F. Miller '08 and J. R. Coolidge '10, who are both doing good work at present. In the two-mile run Yale...
