...first half, the ball zigzagged back and forth near the centre of the field and, though Brown rushed farther than Harvard, Cutler's good kicking evened up matters. In the second half Brown outplayed Harvard, though several times the Freshmen got together and gained ground, only in most cases to lose it by a poorly executed forward pass. Only two out of eight attempts at onside kicks or forward passes proved successful for the Freshmen, and in neither of the successful cases was over five yards gained...
...pass, using it successfully nine times for a total gain of about 105 yards. Although the ball was chiefly in Springfield's territory, it was due to the fact that Burr out-punted Honhart and to the fumbling of two of Briggs' passes one of which put the ball back to Springfield's 3-yard line. Harvard showed some improvement in the second half when all the scoring was done, but even that it was mediocre football for one of the big teams and the fumbling was inexcusable...
...general, the Harvard line-men did good work. Macdonald was down well under punts but his tackling wasn't sure. Forster was a little slow and was inclined to be drawn in on end plays, but he helped the backs along well on the offense. Burr played well, both offensively and defensively, and his recovery of his first blocked kick was a very fast piece of work. He seemed to be somewhat slow in getting his punts off, but did not have adequate protection when called on to kick. Fish put up a good game on the offense and tackled...
There is a chance that Parker will not be able to play today on account of his lame back and a cold. In case he has not sufficiently recovered, Hoar will fill his position. Starr and Nourse will play in place of Newhall and Grant at quarterback and centre respectively. Newhall has not entirely recovered from his lame thigh and will not play at all. Grant will probably be substituted for Nourse centre in the second half. The teams will line up as follows: HARVARD. SPRINGFIELD. Macdonald, l.e. r.e., Bailey Burr, l.t. r.t., Helmen Parker, Hoar, l.g. r.g., Cook Nourse...
...regular University team held only a light practice yesterday, consisting of punting by the backs and running through signals. A short scrimmage was held between the University substitutes and the second eleven in which the former scored one touchdown. There was lots of careless fumbling and it was not until the last few minutes of play that the University substitutes had the advantage. They rushed the ball down to the second's 5-yard line, but there lost it on a fumble. The second punted to Wendell, who ran back 15 yards to the 15-yard line, and after...
