...maintains, "there is strong, compelling evidence that the two are guilty." Whether Buckey and his mother will benefit from the disclosures is still to be decided. The personal costs of the McMartin case, however, have already been high. Raymond Buckey, who has been in jail for 33 months without bail, said on 60 Minutes last month that the sexual-abuse scandal had already ruined his life and that of his family. "They've burned a scarlet letter on me that I can never get rid of," he said. The McMartin parents must endure the dark question of whether their children...

...horror as my instant background check appeared before the gathered group of onlookers at iDate 2007, an Internet dating conference held in Miami this week. The make of my unfashionable car, a reference to my ex-husband, info on a dubious family member (how many times did I bail him out of jail?) and other tidbits about my life popped up onscreen and made my palm sweat on the mouse. Flights today are usually 80% full, but average profits on tickets--what the airlines call yield--are down 24% since 2000, according to AirlineForecasts, an aviation consulting firm. Major airlines have...

...Texas. "Because Congress did not pass a comprehensive reform bill on immigration, more and more states are going to step in like Arizona," he says. Arizona voters last month passed measures denying illegal immigrants access to state-subsidized benefits like child care as well as the right to bail and punitive damages in lawsuits. In the Texas Legislature, Colyandro expects a broad array of legislation targeting benefits to illegals, as well as voter verification of citizenship, employer sanctions for hiring illegal aliens, and additional funding for border security. He says the two extremes of the current immigration debate - deporting...
