Director Sean P. Bala ’09 uses sparse scenery and simple blocking, as he explains in the program, to highlight the more dramatic elements of the story. By adhering to the melodrama of the musical, however, the production cuts out all the fun. Somber movement cumbers the play’s lively moments.
