The indians hammered away at the line every time they got the ball, in many instances making their distance on the fourth rush, and hardly ever resorting to a punt. In fact it is safe to say that if they had a good punter back of their stonewall line, and could vary their centre plunging with an occasional end play, they would be second to no team in the country...
Harvard, though hard pressed, showed steadiness in tight places, and Brown's punting often sent the ball to the middle of the field, when a touch down for Carlisle seemed imminent. The feature of the game was the magnificent stand made by the Harvard line in the second half, when the Indians had the ball on the 5 yard line on the first down. For once Metoxen was unable to gain and Carlisle lost the ball on downs...
...second half, '98 had the kick off, but Hallowell returned the kick gaining slightly for '97. '98 started off to rush the ball but were soon obliged to give it up on downs. Two rushes were made by '97 through the opposing tackles and then the ball was given to Little, who, behind good interference, cleared '98's right end for forty yards and a touchdown. Hallowell failed to kick an easy goal...
