...coming to St. Peters in droves. With dwindling membership, money to run a church must come from outside sources. During the week and in the evenings, St. Peter's parish halls are rented to outside groups which meet there. The Greater Boston Peace Action Coalition, a yoga class, a ballet class, and a Sufi group are currently using the church as their meeting place. "St. Peter's is well known by all kinds of groups and organizations," Thompson said. "They call up all the time to rent space, but our walls are bulging during the week...
Apart from Viet Nam, the conference was significant as the highest-level meeting among officials of China, Russia and the U.S. since President Nixon made his visits to both Peking and Moscow. That makes Jeffrey performances fun to watch-and hear. Alas...
...Beach Boys, sultans of surfdom in the early 1960s. Now enjoying a new wave of popularity, the Beach Boys have a distinctive style that combines close vocal harmony with innocent, unconcerned bounce. Deuce Coupe had little harmony and even less bounce. The choreography was an attempt to contrast classical ballet with the popular dances of the past decade or so. The result was a suspension not unlike the average salad dressing: it stayed together only when shaken frequently. The corps of boys and girls-drawn from both the Jeffrey and Tharp companies-did its best, wiggling and jerking in ways...
