...week ended with the student vote to suspend the strike, tension suddenly deflated like air rushing from a balloon. Students applauded in relief when the Harvard stadium meeting was adjourned. As the crowd moved to the exits, a few undergraduates started tossing a football around. Others quietly fashioned paper planes from Old Mole. With a track meet scheduled for the next morning, someone asked students over a loudspeaker to stay off the field lest they tear up the cinders-and they did. Have you heard the one about the hippies, the mobsters, the convicts, the politician, the warden, the moll', LSD, the balloon and the gangster chief called "God"? Well, that's it. End of joke. ...newsmen were even more so. They threatened to leave if their news wasn't allowed to proceed as it had been about to. The cameras were consequently allowed to roll amid a staccotic background chanting "structured fun" and "planned laughs." In an exchange the Lampoon destroyed the anarchists' balloon with flares, and X charged the members-only tower of the castle and covered Lampys flag flying from the top with a black one. It was all pretty silly...
