Sherman Holcombe says he has one here--Alan Balsam, a 23-year-old, politically radical Brandeis alumnus who is shop steward of the College dining halls. Balsam, an intense man who wears rimless glasses, is a curiously complementary figure to Stefani. He got a job in the Brandeis dining halls after his graduation and organized the workers there into the Cooks and Pastry Cooks, leaving shortly thereafter for a higher-paying job here. He works in Winthrop House dining hall and is carrying on an active, secretive organizing campaign aimed at building a strong position for the negotiations...
Cottage Cheese. The course was 16½ miles long but only 8 ft. wide, meandering through stands of aspen and balsam, crossing four frozen lakes and looping back into town. And Lauren Bacall produces the murder weapon from her pocket book with the most roguish look on her face since...

They also got, in alphabetical order as protocol dictates, Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Rachel Roberts, Richard Widmark and Michael York, all as murder suspects. And still they got nothing...
Robert Shaw and Martin Balsam play the leading hijackers; Walter Matthau is a lieutenant in the Transit Police who helps undo them. Each of these gentlemen - indeed, the entire cast - at tacks his role by affecting the slightly petulant boredom of a commuter with nothing to read. They seem to rouse themselves only for the wisecracks...
