...much beneficence can one show bestow? Already credited with justifying the paychecks of ABC executives and resuscitating family television viewing, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is now inspiring Americans to support struggling authors. Last week, as part of his affable banter, host REGIS PHILBIN asked contestant BRAD HERZOG, a freelance magazine writer, about his book States of Mind, an American travelogue released last year by a small North Carolina publisher. "I didn't go on the show to plug my book," says Herzog, who won $64,000, "but I was happy to tell 30 million viewers." Before the show...

David Frankel (Miami Rhapsody) has put sharp dialogue in the mouths of shallow characters, making for a PG Sex and the City without its edge or likability. Frankel's writing and directorial creativity argue for giving the series a chance. But based on the first few dates, this...

...stage-crashers and the overwhelming amount of flowers, books and letters thrown onstage. Morrissey is a seasoned performer and uses his charms and talent to capture attention. But while he's not much of a dancer, Cher-esque costume changes (three of them!), shirt stripping, coy looks and witty banter (including clever jibes at Jerry Springer and Montel Williams) more than captivated the crowd...

...Abba-loving Aussie, weds a handsome Olympic swimmer she does not know so that the Olympic committee can consider him an Australian for competition. One of the movie's taglines claims, "She's not just getting married, she's getting even." Muriel was ostensibly rebelling against the ridicule and banter she endured as a lonely single woman. The film evoked pity and sympathy from audiences across the globe...
