At Williams, the Nordic team finished fourth--its best showing this season. Ben (Bear) Barnes and Jim Sise battled a rutted and icy cross-country course to place 12 and 13 in a field of 41 and put the Crimson solidly above Vermont and St. Lawrence.
Harvard jumpers Jim Sise, Ben Barnes, and John Mitchell leapt to 19, 28, and 29 in a field of 40 to put the team in seventh place.
But the Harvard Nordic team fell behind, finishing sixth in cross-country and seventh in the jump. In individual showings, Jim Sise and Ben Barnes finished 15 and 19 in a field of 37 cross-country entries.
And the Radcliffe skiing team placed second in the first race sponsored by the Women's Intercollegiate Ski Conference. Cliffie Robin Barnes won the giant slalom in 0:59.4.
