Kernan was quick to take advantage of a similar chance behind the bat. The base-running showed a little more life than in the Amherst game. This was partly due to the return to the team of Carr, who did some remarkably quick work, stealing four bases and scoring two runs. Matthews began the scoring for the home team, in the first inning, with a home run. In the fourth, Randall made a base hit and was advanced to the plate by the three-brace hit by Clarkson, who scored in turn on Stillman's fly to the outfield. Daly reached first on a base hit, and R. P. Kernan made an easy infield hit, which was thrown wild, scoring Daly, and advancing Kernan to third. Carr then received a base on balls, when a well-executed double steal brought Kernan home, and advanced Carr to second. An error by Watson...
