...Metropolitan, combines the usual thrills of aerial combat with a psychological study of a junior officer's hatred for his superior. Between too frequent shots of Errol Flynn's frank; boyish face, there are healthy little sermons about "the criminal lunatics sitting around a big table." For although Basil Rathbone does a good job as the villain, Mars is the real villain. The "poor man's war" angle is unconvincingly put forward, but the flying sequences are good. The picture is sans love interest, with nary a woman...
