Redding, along with drummer Mitch Mitchell, accompanied Jimi Hendrix on some of the most radical songs of the 1960s, including Purple Haze and Foxey Lady. In 1974, Redding signed away future royalties for a one-off payment, losing out as Hendrix records continued to sell well over the next quarter-century.
