At age 17, he saw a show by the black punk group Bad Brains, and it was "a personal revolution." De la Rocha, Morello, drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford formed Rage...

...often, the talents of Wooten are dwarfed by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, for whom he plays bass. (Bela Fleck themselves are all too often merely the opener for bands such as the Dave Matthews Band.) This solo outing reaffirmed his position as the most prolific and talented bassist since Jacko Pastore. The ambience of The House of Blues, with its bas-reliefs of Blues and Jazz greats, enhanced the funky bass-lines and fostered the dialogue between Wooten, the band and his audience. Her new CD, Bitter, is more of a good-night kiss, slow, atmospheric and a bit weepy. Bitter, which features narcoleptic production by Craig Street, has carefully structured songs and cautious vocals, but it lacks NdegeOcello's edginess and verve. The songs are about breakups and betrayal, but the emotion is buried. This album feels like that uncomfortable pause in an argument when there's nothing left to say or throw...
