Starting off with the quarter, Columbia took the lead, with Yale second and the University third, holding that place through the 220-yard dash. Taking the baton in second place Campbell of Yale passed the Columbia runner and put the Elis in the front for the final event. Captain O'Connell cut down Yale's lead and passed the Columbia man, but was unable to overcome the tremendous disadvantage in which he was placed by Campbell's wonderful running. Aided by the favorable weather yesterday, the relay teams which were picked on Wednesday ran for the first time as teams. Special attention was paid to the passing of the baton, and running the corners.
