...Lampoon was first at the bat, and by scoring one run, bravely held the lead throughout the first half of the first inning. The Lampoon battering was composed of graduates, who are now allowed to play, owing to recent crafty changes in the Lampoon's eligibility rules, made at a mass-meeting of the editors of that sheet. On account of this unsportsmanlike act on the part of the Lampoon, the CRIMSON is seriously considering refusing to play them again, after the present five-year agreement expires...

...playing in the last few games, will be the best fielding team that Yale has has for years. Sharpe, Cook, and Hirsh are all hitting strongly, but the team as a whole is weak in this respect. Captain Robertson and Coach Johnston have decided to allow each man to bat in his habitual style, as they think that last year's batting slump was due to the enforcement by the coaches of a uniform style of bating. The result of this new system seemed very satisfactory in the Brown series, Yale winning both games, by scores...

Kernan's work behind the bat shows promise. He showed, however, a lack of steadiness, especially in holding third strikes. Frantz covered first base satisfactorily, and Coolidge fielded his position remarkably well. Clark's one assist was on a bunt, which he handled cleanly and quickly. Murphy opened the game with an error, but after that did well. In the whole game Lafayette hit the ball to the outfield but once, and then it was easily handled by Putnam. Higgs was slow in backing up second, and allowed a runner to take third on a high throw by Kernan...

Putnam was tried at centre field yesterday. He had no chances in the field, but he did well at the bat, making one sacrifice hit and a timely single. An inexcusable misunderstanding between him and the coacher, however, led to his being caught off first base in the third inning be a simple trick. Murphy again played well at second base, but he made the only fielding error for the team by poor handling of Never's grounder in the third. The infield played well other-wise, expect for slow handling of Blanchard's scratch hit between third and short...

...game was the success of putting Frantz of first and Murphy on second. Both fielded their positions easily and faultlessly and madehard, timely hits. G. C. Clark's slow fielding and poor base-running was somewhat counterbalanced by a long home run Kernan was slow in the field and batted awkwardly, but did some promising work behind the bat. With the exception of Reid, the rest of the team had only fair success at the bat because of useless efforts to knock the ball over the outfielders' heads. In the field Coolidge, Wendell and Devens all accepted hard chances...
