...southern trip the Yale team won three games and lost three. In general the batting was fair and the fielding weak, except in the game with the University of Virginia, which Yale played without an error. The men played well individually but the team work was not good. Of the pitchers, Robertson was the most effective and Garvan did fairly well. McKelvey had good control but was hit hard. Sullivan's catching was excellent and he was strong in throwing to bases. Cunha was given several chances behind the bat and did fairly good work. Captain Camp led the team...
...first game, which was played on Saturday, April 14, with the University of Virginia, was easily won by a score of 7 to 0, Virginia being able to get only one man past second base. The team played well together, the batting was good and the base-running showed improvement over recent games. In bunting, however, the men showed unusual weakness. Loughlin made four brilliant catches in centre-field in addition to a two-base hit. Coolidge at shortstop fielded his position without an error, and Fincke made three base-hits in four times at the bat. Stillman pitched...

Clay is besides stiff and his head work is poor, while Clark's is very good...

Jaynes lacks experience and is weak in flies that come over his head, but he is improving in batting. Christenson's work, though fair, needs activity and life. Stewart is another one of the men who are constantly improving as they gain more experience. His work on the bases...
...Freshman baseball squad was cut down for the fifth time Saturday afternoon and is now reduced to twenty-two men. The team is still weak at first base and behind the bat, but the infield is fairly promising. There is excellent pitching material. As there have been only two days of out-door practice, very little can be said of the outfield. Saturday afternoon two nines were picked and a five inning game was played. The following men, not including the batteries, make up the squad: First base--Baldwin, Foster, Lancy; second base--Daly, Jackson, Black; third base -- Forsman, Story...
