...score of 8 to 2. The team showed less spirit than they have in previous games, for when a victory was practically assured, the men made little effort to increase the score, with the result that the game was the slowest played by the team this year. The batting was again most unsatisfactory. Against a pitcher much inferior to Stillman, the team aggregated two less hits than their opponents, and were generally unable to hit at the opportune moment. One successful bunt was made. Although not spirited, the work of the men in the infield was fairly accurate...

...been practicing steadily on Soldiers Field and during that time the general playing has greatly improved. The fielding of the whole team is very good especially that of the infield, while the throwing to bases and general team work help to kept up the present good standard. The batting on the other hand is usually very poor though occasionally the men improve for a while. They all have a tendency to bat at high balls, and are unable to hit successively. It has been decided not to have a training table for the team, as the schedule is not sufficiently...

Amherst came to the bat in the ninth inning, with the score 7 to 5 against her, but a hit and base on balls, followed by a costly passed ball by Kernan, let in two runs, which tied the score, 7 to 7. Matthews opened the last half of the inning for Harvard with a base-hit, and stole second. Clarkson then brought in the winning run with a timely two-base hit, thus relieving a serious situation...

...game was, perhaps, the most discouraging played this year, for in addition to the team's customary weakness in batting, several very costly and inexcusable fielding errors were made. The base-running, too, was deplorably spiritless, three men, being caught between bases. Clarkson seemed to lack a little of his usual steadiness in the box, for, although he succeeded in striking out seven men, he allowed four bases on balls, and hit two men. Behind the bat, Kernan allowed three passed balls, one of which let in the tying runs in the ninth inning...

...Freshman baseball team played a five-inning practice game with the second nine yesterday in which the final score was 4 to 4. Eight hits were made by the second team, while the Freshmen made only three. At bat the Freshmen were weak; their fielding was only fair, and their throwing slow and inaccurate, the ball being beaten to first several times on slow infield hits. Their base-running, however, was good, as seven bases were stolen. Hammond pitched a good game for the second team...
