Usage:

After the signal practice the whole squad, including Kersburg, ran about a mile on the beach in front of the club house. Kersburg's leg is much improved and will probably be in fairly good shape on Saturday. He was in signal practice for half an hour, being then replaced by Gilmore. ...work consisted in rowing in short stretches up stream about a mile, then down stream as far as the Magazine street beach, and returning to the University boathouse. The crew started out well, but rowed poorly after the first half mile. The boat rocked considerably. Morgan at 8 washed out with his blade at the end of his stroke. At 5 Lowell finished his stroke too soon and did not keep the full strength of his shoulders on the oar long enough.
