Most heartbreaking it is to find at the Hollis, where the Theatre Guild is opening its Boston season, that Lynn Fontanne has nothing to do. The play is "Meteor", by S. N. Behrman, who wrote "The Second Man" and "Serena Blandish". And though Miss Fontanne is in it, on the stage, in fact, for a good part of it, she is a distinct second fiddle. This is all the more remarkable, because there are few enough actresses of her attainments who would take such a part, and none that would do it with such a fine sense of the artistic...

Harvard supporters thought this a lucky accident whereby the Crimson narsmen would gain the moral advantage of about a length's lead. It turned out very much the opposite, however, for Behrman brought his crew together admirably, and, raising the stroke tow or three points, again restored a driving rythm to his shell which made it regain the lost territory and go forging past the two Cambridge crews...

Jed Harris, the ill-shaven producer whose perhaps somewhat mercenary pride recently forbade him to present Ina Claire in The Gaoler's Wench, was inclined to think well of Serena. He ordered Robert Edmond Jones to design some sets and procured Ruth Gordon with her soft, broken voice and her abruptly delicate gestures to play the part of a lady who "possessed every imaginable charm of appearance and behavior...

Behrman and Sil-Vara's Playing at Love.
