Since the mid 1960s, Memorial Church’s bell has rung mostly on an automated timer—from 8:40 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to call congregants for the morning service, at 9 a.m. to mark the first class, and every hour until 4 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays to mark the changing of the classes.
