If you have extra time, if they give you a couple of weeks to tidy up business, you can probably use your contact list, because those are relationships that you carry with you, to let people know that you're leaving. You can set the tone for why you're leaving without making you sound vindictive. But in terms of company property and documents and company secrets, those belong to the company, and you should leave them alone...

...fresh-faced teenager with my first high-speed Internet connection. Someone showed me a Flash animation featuring 1980s Japanese video-game images repurposed into a techno-music montage. Or something. I'm not really sure. I didn't understand All Your Base Are Belong To Us then, and I don't understand it now, but I can't deny its Internet significance. All I remember is that people wouldn't stop saying "Somebody set up us the bomb" for at least a week...

...board has not kept CEO Jeff Immelt on a shorter leash. He should have been forced out of many of the company's consumer and industrial businesses more quickly. That criticism seems reasonable. Immelt has also hung on to NBCU, the company's entertainment unit. While it does not belong with the rest of GE's businesses, it performance has not harmed the parent. At its worst, it can be viewed as an expensive way to get good seats at the Olympics. Looked at in a better light it bought in $3.1 billion in segment profits...
