This moraine is a portion of one of the great terminal moraines that was formed near the margin of the ice-covered area of the last glacial epoch. It consists of a belt of irregular gravel hills, extending about twenty miles from near Narragansett Pier to Watch Hill, averaging a mile in breadth, and fifty to a hundred feet in local relief.
