...Some, however, were reportedly more inclined to give Obama's approach a chance to work, and the President's approach was enthusiastically backed by J-Street, a new Jewish-American lobby group that ties support for Israel to the pursuit of peace. The presence of J-Street's Jeremy Ben-Ami at the White House meeting was one more change to digest for such stalwarts of the Jewish-American establishment as Foxman and Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. Following the President's Cairo outreach speech in June, Hoenlein had said...

...doctor series have long been enmeshed with politics. In the 1960s the American Medical Association--which was vehemently fighting Medicare--signed off on Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey scripts, seeking to promote a positive image of status quo medicine. Each has other legitimate fears: Ben of feeling limited, even as he adores Anna, and Andrew of being a poseur (which he is, but Leonard makes us care for him). Anna has fears too. The truth is, the distance between...

...Anna is also intuitive enough to understand that there is an attraction between Ben and Andrew. Most likely, it's just about personality, but Shelton suggests at times that there might be something more to it. Ben and Andrew are like a pair of little boys, pummeling each other constantly to make contact. Watching them in an angry wrestling match after a competitive basketball game, you start to think that maybe they should make out, crazy as it seems. That's the power of this subversive movie; it challenges us as much as it challenges its own characters. Humpday makes...
