...Clinton Administration, citing these revelations, remains committed to protecting the disputed land. It promises to compensate local mining interests by swapping federal lands of equal value for those that lie within the monument. Utah Senator Bob Bennett sniffs at this, insisting that there is no land of equal value. Bennett is also unimpressed with Clinton's promise that all the current uses of the region, except mining, would be unchanged by its new status. The Senator wants that pledge written into law. "We'll see how sincere they are," he says...

There were some factual errors in your article "The Chairman of Virtue Inc.," about Bill Bennett and the success of his campaign for better moral values in America [NATION, Sept. 16]. Your story said Bennett was at the home of our parents Charles and Helen Frankel in 1979 on the day prior to their murders. He was not. You described the residence as a "mansion"; it was a seven-room ranch house. And finally, the burglars who committed the murders were not "found to have been high on amphetamines." Drug use was never implicated as a factor in the crime...

Former Clinton adviser James Carville wisecracked that if you "drag $100 bills through trailer parks, there's no telling what you'll find." Clinton lawyer Bob Bennett has dismissed the suit as "tabloid trash with a legal caption on it" and once boasted that in a trial he could win the case in 20 minutes...

...question is, How quickly will Hollywood release movie titles for this costly and unproved platform? About 100 DVD titles--including, ominously, zero from home-video-titan Disney--should come out this year (a few highlights: Raging Bull, Twister, Legends of the Fall and Tony Bennett's mtv Unplugged), which is a lot fewer than this new medium needs in the long run but more support than the infant CD industry got in its rookie year, 1983, when Sony moved a mere 35,000 players. "We think DVD will ramp up more quickly," says Briesch, who predicts 10 million players sold...

...instead found his focus turned toward the Supreme Court building. There, justices aggressively questioned attorneys for both Clinton and Paula Jones as they heard arguments over whether or not Clinton should be allowed to delay Jones' sexual harassment suit. Justice Antonin Scalia challenged the assertion of Clinton attorney Robert Bennett that the President was too busy to defend himself, telling Bennett: "The notion that he doesn't have a minute to spare is not credible." But Scalia seemed sympathetic to the heart of Bennett's argument: that under the Constitution's separation of powers, the nation's hundreds of federal...
