At this point, with a premature burst of pride, the Admiralty announced in London that the Elizabeth had reached a safe berth "across the Atlantic." This was the first intimation to most of the world that Q. E. had even left John Brown's Shipyard. Far more amazing, a far more admirable feat than Q.
