...only one factor contributing to the College relativism. Demos says that in Harvard's case 'Veritas means that we are committed to nothing." Yet even those members of the University who are "committed men," who, like Demos, do believe, often see the critical examination of ideas as the best method for arriving at truth. Reverend George A. Buttrick, Preacher to the the University, sees truth arising "from the friction of friendly minds." Thus the University becomes almost a playing field where issues of possibly eternal salvation and damnation are gentlemanly tossed around by polite opponents. The danger with this method...
OXFORD, June 8--Gamesmanship and Oneupmanship were in widespread use yesterday as the Harvard-Yale track team completed its last hard workout before the meet Wednesday evening with Oxford and Cambridge in London's White City Stadium. Kevin Gilligan, Oxford's excellent distance runner did his best to undermine American morale yesterday by taking his workout in the Iffley Road running ground at the same time as the U.S. team was practicing. Gilligan began running along with two Yale performers, miler Jim Wade and two-miler John Morrison, planning to do a half-mile in two laps, run through another...

Bill Markle of Yale should finish first in the shot put and his teammate Mike Pyle is the discus choice. All four high jumpers, Patrick MacKenzie and Peter Jackson of Cambridge and John deKiewiet and Marty Beckwith of Harvard are right...
Three weeks ago, the varsity defeated this same Yale team by a score of 5 to 3, in a notably unexciting contest. Actually the winners were considerably off their best form on this particular day, but still they managed to stay in control most...
...Wadsworth, the best man on coach Shepard's very capable mound staff, will probably get the starting assignment today. Wadsworth also started the earlier Eli game, and was not up to his usual standard of effectiveness. However, his overall performance this season has clearly established his excellence as a pitcher (his won-lost record is 4-2, his earned run average around 2.00) and it will be surprising if he does not improve on that previous Yale outing...
