Israeli leaders have shown a singular lack of enthusiasm for punishing those responsible for the security scandals. The fired Shin Bet officials were given pardons after acknowledging the allegations against them. Some critics believe the reluctance to demand accountability is part of a continuing cover- up conducted by top political leaders.
