...rest of the contents, the verse is better than the prose. "The Dream-Palace," by J. Hinckley '06, has a light and delicate fancy and no little beauty of expression: though here and there invention flags, and metaphor and word are drummed up at the exigencies of the rhyme. "Chanson," by H. Hagedorn, Jr., '07, has the charm of simplicity. The stories in the number are poor. "The Play" is an elaborately constructed rack whereon are hung a few, sometimes effective jokes. "The Adventure of the Young man and the Spasmodic Lady" and "The Curious History of a Selfish...

...practice game yesterday afternoon the University basketball team defeated the second by a score of 44 to 16. In the first half the score was 18 to 10, due to the ragged playing of the University team. Although the University team played somewhat better in the second half, their large score was chiefly the result of loose work by the second team. In the second half, however, the superior individual play and better physical condition of the Harvard team outbalanced the better team-play of Columbia. The puck was kept in Columbia's territory most of the time and the University was allowed many opportunities to shoot. The good work of the Columbia goal was all that prevented the score from being larger...

...practice of the University basketball team yesterday consisted of a game with the Freshmen, which was won by the University team by the score of 23 to 11. Randall and Gring were again in the line-up and as a result the team-work was better than on Monday, as was the basket shooting, but both teams, the University in particular, showed a lack of aggressiveness, which at times was extremely discouraging. For the University team Bigelow and Grant played the best game, while for the Freshmen the best work was done by Burnham and Murray...
