...seems not unreasonable that better things should be expected in the Advocate than such a story as "Only Twice." The incident which the story develops seems hardly possible in the mind of the ordinary undergraduate, and any possible merit in construction certainly does not justify such a lengthy display of cheap and unhealthy sentiment. ...book reviews, as a whole, are more intelligent and comprehensive than any that have appeared for some time. It is a question however, whether the care spentlin preparing these reviews for the few people who read them with appreciation, would not bring better results if put upon that part of each number which gets the attention of a great many more readers...
