James, while having smoothed his style somewhat since last hearing, still plays very stiffly himself and his rhythm section sounds as if it were descended from the proud line of Pinocchio. As a novelist who works in a studio with a romantic north light, he understands women so well that he is willing to teach a couple of smug husbands that if they want to hold their wives, they had better come across with some of the little niceties that ladies appreciate. Mr. Harrison has a lot of fun teaching them their lesson, and so does the audience, if you like attempted seduction in an atmosphere of soft music, low lights, and exquisitely cut dinner jackets.
