This is a very unfortunate mistake, as close order drill is absolutely essential to proper training of troops, and the more expert a man is in this work, the better and more desirable soldier he will make. In the British army, a body of troops begins squad drill as soon as it is sent back for the "long rest." After the war Russia will need outside help if she is to develop according to her possibilities. America is in a better position to give this help than any other country.
