...Marriott bombing, and the jitters over fresh terrorist plots, come at a particularly tense time for Indonesia. Last week, Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, the first man arrested in connection with the Bali bombings, was sentenced to death by a court in the island's capital, Denpasar. Meanwhile, a verdict is imminent for Abubakar Ba'asyir, the alleged spiritual head of JI, who is charged with treason and bombings unrelated to Bali. A conviction for the revered cleric?who denies that JI exists, although he did concede late in his trial that he believed attacks on Christian churches were permissible...
...counter-terror official. The FBI, along with the CIA and the U.S. military, is urgently trying to disrupt efforts by the jihadists to reconstitute command and control structures in parts of rural Yemen controlled by clans hostile to the government in San'a and sympathetic to Osama Bin Laden, whose own family roots are in Yemen...
...deceased Jordanian King Hussein Abdullah. The crowd bellowed as the pictures were held aloft and cheered as they were smashed upon the embassy walls. Glass shattered and the pictures were stomped by many sandals. Next came Jordanian tourist posters and images of King Abdullah's son, King Abdullah bin Hussein, Jordan's reigning monarch. They too were smashed. A Jordanian staffer in the bowels of the embassy fired shots as the second wave of looters crashed in. Then the rage turned, and the crowd began yelling Anti-American slogans...

Creator Justin Butcher says the play grew out of his outrage at the way Britain was "sleepwalking into war at the behest of the Administration in Washington." Unfortunately, the topical jokes soon give way to a long, obsessively detailed parody of Dr. Strangelove, with a mad general ordering...
Last week Wan Min Bin Wan Mat, a witness in the trial of Ali Gufron, a.k.a. Mukhlas (pictured), alleged mastermind of the Bali attack, confirmed what investigators have long suspected: Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda had directly funded the Oct. 12, 2002 bombings which killed 202 people. Wan Min, who is being held without trial under terrorism charges in Malaysia and testified by video-link, is Jemaah Islamiah's (JI) putative treasurer, and he confessed to personally delivering the $30,000 used to fund the Bali attack. That was merely the latest in a series of revelations that have...
