...only reason for this would be financial. All this innovation is, predictably, rather expensive. I used $20 worth of suture in 1999 when I did the repair open (through a regular surgical incision, looking at the tissues directly with my eyes, not on a TV screen). The bio-absorbable suture anchors, pumps, cannulas and all the other little throw-away doodads that make my arthroscopic repair possible typically cost over $1200 per case. The arthroscopic method probably accounts for about half of the rotator cuff surgeries now being done in the U.S. Every year more surgeons are switching over...

...other end of the building. There are days when we don't agree." Lubov is hailed as the prototypical BCBG woman: wife, mother (she and Azria have three daughters, and she is stepmom to his three children from a previous marriage) and career woman, who, according to the company bio, "successfully balances life's demands with enviable grace, refusing to compromise on her fulfillment of each role." Walid Bin 'Attash, for instance, "is the scion of a prominent terrorist family," whose father was close to Osama bin Laden. Several of his brothers trained and fought in Afghanistan in the 1990s, the bio notes; two of them were killed, and another brother has been detained at Guantanamo Bay since 2004. ...machine takes out bio-agents from shallow water without using chemicals like chlorine. It takes out ions and heavy metals and chemicals like arsenic from deep water without activated charcoal. It takes out salt water from the ocean without osmosis. It has no chemicals, it has no filters, it has no membranes, no consumables of any kind. It takes any input of water - you don't even have to pretest it - and what comes out is pure, distilled water. It meets the U.S. pharmacopoeia standard for water that can be injected. It's astounding. And it takes one-third...

...electrified. They're small villages. But they were fully electrified for nearly half year each. And the only fuel - there's no infrastructure for that either - that went into each of these boxes was [methane gas from] cow dung. A pit next to the box and the most basic bio-digester you've ever seen... the pipe comes out of it and into our engine, and it made electricity. And since the power was made locally, we had no transmission lines, and we had no infrastructure issues. And it created in each village three entrepreneurs. It not only wasn...
