...this comedy about an inept Spokane, Wash., news crew, the cast members also "report" on real events whose participants don't know they're speaking to actors. This may be the most highly hyphenated sitcom ever--scripted-improv-reality-mockumentary--but it's highly entertaining. Focusing on the bitter rivalry between an intern turned producer (Andrea Savage, above left) and her former boss-lover (Matt Walsh, above, second from left), it may even be funnier than your local newscast...

...were the sound track to the early-'60s Civil Rights movement. Then he smartly ransacked the tropes of every hip lyricist from Bertolt Brecht to the Beat Generation poets Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Then adapted his righteous belligerence to the standard love song, upending it into airs of bitter, knowing rejection. When he tired of being the preeminent folkie, and the poster boy for political causes, he plugged himself in, merging the Beats with the beat, and immediately forced a rethinking of nearly every aspect of pop music...

Potential praise at Cannes aside, Moretti has spent much of the past five years denouncing the very man whose presence inspired his film. Il Caimano debuted in March amid Berlusconi's bitter campaign against Romano Prodi. Although Moretti says he had no Michael Moore-style mission, there's no denying the singular timing. ...Over the weekend a passel of Brownites and left-wingers came out and practically said it, openly agitating for Blair to leave quickly. In response, they were virulently denounced by Blairites as wreckers of party unity, raising disturbing echoes of the bitter factionalism that used to dog Labour. The conflagration surely made Blair regret the promise he made last year, in order to secure Brown's enthusiastic participation in the general election campaign, to stand down by the end of this parliament, which is expected to end with elections in 2009. For a British Prime Minister fixing a term starts...
