...Hancock County, where Mr. Blackton says he was shaken down for $8.05, a county tax of 3? per gallon is imposed upon gasoline. In only a few States are county gasoline taxes imposed, but Hancock County is at the top of the list with one of the highest taxes of its kind in the U. S. To make matters worse, the county does not use its gasoline-tax receipts for road building, but devotes them to miscellaneous purposes.
