...below ground, in a salt mine under Lake Erie, in the Kamioka lead and zinc mine in Japan, in the Mont Blanc Tunnel linking Italy and France, and in another tunnel under Mount Elbrus in the Soviet Union, scientists carefully examined data from computer printouts. They were hoping that some of the ethereal particles called neutrinos, predicted by theory to be produced during a supernova, had penetrated the earth, leaving their trail in huge liquid- filled neutrino detectors. Astrophysicist J. Craig Wheeler, of the University of Texas in Austin, summarized the activity while addressing a hastily convened meeting of astronomers...
Whack! Bam! Snipe! Antoine (Michel Blanc) and Monique (Miou-Miou) bicker like dogs in hate. The beleaguered husband and wife are about to kill each other, in front of everybody at their favorite Paris dive, when a stranger named Bob (Gerard Depardieu) joins in the fray. Changes their lives too. This pansexual thief takes the couple on his heists and woos them both before vacating the premises. He takes Monique to bed but pines indefatigably for mousy Antoine. Unashamed by his voracious sexual appetite, Bob overwhelms the poor little guy. Who could resist such declarations of ardor? They become lovers...

The Pope nonetheless did his best to get a taste of past climbing days in Poland. At the Brenva Glacier he insisted on a solitary, blissful...
...Barbara pilot venture. Some of the menu offerings are Roux inventions -- the cloudlike cheese souffle adrift in a cream and Gruyere sauce and the succulent beef tournedos in robust red-wine sauce with an earthy hotchpotch of mushrooms. Equally delectable are Hutchings' own creations -- tender abalone in a beurre- blanc sauce with caviar, and squab mellowed in a shallot-scented Cabernet sauce...
...climax. As a sympathetic director of women (who could ever forget Adrian's birth scene in Rocky II?) you might be appalled by Bertrand Blier's Tenue de Soiree, a raucous romantic farce in which Macho Thief Gerard Depardieu gets the raging hots for Winsome Wimp Michel Blanc, and they both end up in drag. Still, the film is so ingenuous and vigorous that even an ardent feminist like yourself might surrender to its skewed charm...
