...coolness toward the Undergraduate Council candidates and other potential campus superstars, then, may stem more from confusion than pettiness. Rather than trying to sort out a campus-wide pecking order, we have chosen a bland but egalitarian alternative: A thousand flowers may bloom, but they shouldn't expect any special treatment because of it. The council elections, important though they may be, try to get us to deviate from this egalitarian solution. It is not surprising then that they should be met with an indifference often laced with hostility...

Artistically he strove for realism; intellectually, for a bland celebration of tradition. There had been an Edenic moment in his childhood when the Disneys settled on a farm outside little Marceline, Mo., and he used his work to celebrate the uncomplicated sweetness of the small-town life and values he had only briefly tasted...

Certainly better than a mediocre cut of butt, I suppose. However, the beef was disappointingly dry and fairly bland. Barbecuing usually gives meats a rich smoky flavor, but this was sadly not the case here. Still, the quality was not consistent across meat lines. The barbecued lamb and pork did have more flavor. And standout was the linguica sausage, which distinguished itself as the best of the skewers. The linguica...
