Pygmy is written in a very unique, fractured dialect. After reading it, I couldn't stop thinking in that dialect. What was it like to write in it? It really was a blast, it was like writing poetry instead of prose. There were so many rules for what I was doing intentionally wrong. For example, I couldn't use the prefix un- - unhappy, unconscious. With Pygmy it was no happy or no conscious. I found myself saying no conscious a lot. You end up internalizing all that language and it lingers in your head and alters the way you think...
...disaster began when GOP leaders, after calling a news conference to blast Obama's numbers, released a budget outline with no numbers - just magic assumptions about "reform." The mockery was instantaneous. Then Republicans began blaming one another for the stunt, which generated only more mockery about circular firing squads. And when they finally released the missing details on April 1, the notion of an April Fools' budget produced even more mockery; the substance was ignored. Klees failed to make it out of the second frame, getting tagged for six runs, with the big blast coming on a three-run shot by Johnathon Santopadre. Walsh attributed Klees’ mistake pitch to Santopadre to the rookie getting his signals crossed on a missed pickoff opportunity.“We had a pick on at second,” Walsh said. “When [Klees] threw...
...Sadr City in Baghdad and the port city of Basra in the south of Iraq. The Mahdi Army dispatched gunmen nightly during the height of the sectarian violence. Yet Mohsen believes the odds of such a situation unfolding again are low, at least in Baghdad - given the myriad checkpoints, blast wall cordons and Iraqi security forces on the street, including Sunni volunteer fighters from the ranks of the Awakening movement, a confederation of tribesmen who've been working with U.S. forces since 2007.
