Which may not be a bad thing if you think teacher education programs waste everyone?s time on useless blather like "metacognition" and "modality processing." But as districts race to lower their entrance barriers, it isn?t clear whether staffing classrooms with amateurs is simply a short-term fix (that could have lasting harmful consequences) or a cost-effective long-term solution to our nation?s teacher shortage...
