...University Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Clubs will give a concert this evening in Sanders Theatre at 8 o'clock. This concert will be open only to members of the University and to their friends. A block of seats have been reserved for the friends of the men on the clubs and admission to this section will be by ticket only; the rest of the seats will be free and unreserved. During the coming summer Hilton Block will be completely remodelled and renovated. The building has recently changed hands, and the new owners intend to make it over in such a way as to put it on a level with the more modern dormitories. The building which is now cut up into several parts will be united on each floor by a wide hall, to which a broad staircase will lead from an imposing entrance on Massachusetts avenue. When one stops to consider that all the dormitories of the Yard, 16 private dormitories, countless lodging houses, and ten club houses are within three minutes of the proposed site, the complaint that the site is out of the way seems groundless. Of course if we could tear down some building in the Yard, and erect the club on its site, the walk to the club would be shortened by almost 100 seconds...
Within the next two years Yale expects to put up three new buildings on the block bounded by College, Grove, High and Wall streets. The Misses Stokes of New York City have recently given $500,000 for a new administration building, which will be built fronting on Wall street. The auditorium and dining hall, which together will cost $750,000, will face on College and Grove streets. $250,000 has already been subscribed for these buildings and it is hoped that the alumni will subscribe the remaining $500,000 necessary in time for the buildings to be erected...
