Usage:

...Bureau was formed in 1945 primarily for research in perfecting aptitude tests and will continue to concentrate on this aspect. The "Ink-blot" test, given to freshmen last fall, and the Proficiency Test for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, similar to the Aptitude Survey, are both still in process. Curiously, Marin's own pictures are self-expressive and abstract. He usually lets the straight lines and angles that are the scaffolding of his compositions stand in the finished work, and prefers a careless-seeming blot of color to a smooth wash. "The very doing" of a picture, he believes, is part of what the picture has to say, so he makes his paintings look like works-in-progress...

...this, Menzel directs a cone-roofed observatory in Colorado, and a new station in New Mexico, close to the site of the first atom bomb. The observatories are equipped with spectrohelioscopes-- astronomical X-ray machines that penetrate to the inner layers of the sun--and with coronoscopes, which blot out the sun like an eclipse, so that the other corona can be watched. Menzel went west a few months ago to spend all his time at the solar stations, on the Astronomy Department's biggest project...
