...more than four years the passport officer at the Irish embassy in London had sold false Irish passports to foreigners. The price: as much as $24,000 apiece. The story further alleged, although it provided no evidence, that the official, Kevin McDonald, 37, may have sold some of the bogus documents to "Libyans, Iranians, Lebanese and others" from states associated with terrorism. Irish authorities reportedly relieved McDonald of his embassy duties and then ordered him back to Dublin...

...first glance, Moonlighting isn't about much. The mystery plots are slight and derivative: so many bogus suicides and murders have been staged that the show could be subtitled "101 Ways to Remake Vertigo." But Shepherd, as the straitlaced ice queen, and Willis, as the wisecracking clod-with-a- heart-of-gold, are a screen team to treasure. McLellin's papers supposedly contained embarrassing stories about Smith...

...feel you've been there and never want to go back." James Woods, who starred in Stone's previous film, Salvador, calls him an "artist whose vision transcends politics. Everyone from the ex-hippie to the ex-grunt can be moved by Platoon. And his passion isn't bogus -- he doesn't play Imagine at the end of the film to break people's hearts." Brian De Palma, who filmed Scarface from a Stone script, sees him achieving a volcanic maturity in Platoon: "He has now channeled his feeling and energy into a cohesive dramatic work. He's an auteur...
