...eight-story "Dream Mansion," as Liberians proudly call it, has an atomic-bomb shelter, an underground swimming pool, a private chapel, a trophy room, a cinema, a strong room large enough to hold all the gold in Africa, and a kitchen big enough to prepare all the fufu (Liberia's national dish, a stew based on the cassava plant) that anyone could eat. Tubman's new home combines the comfort of a garish four-star hotel with the appearance of a department store the week before Christmas...

...small but real chance of catastrophic accident rides with many a military and scientific program. Nuclear weapons have already been involved in at least ten accidents - always, so far, without exploding, though one 24-megaton bomb jettisoned by a B-52 was reportedly found in a field with five of its six safety interlocks set off. Such peace able activities as weather control have taken risks with equally destructive energies, as when the early Project Cirrus seeded an Atlantic hurricane with dry ice, only to have it veer 120° to sideswipe a thinly populated stretch of Georgia coast...

On the Navy 40, Wingback Phil Harris-who had caught only five passes all season-daintily sidestepped Navy's Pat Donnelly and reached up. Down came the pass, spiraling prettily into his hands. No one touched Harris as he scampered all the way to the end zone. Stocking-footed Tony...

...that point, The Easy Life is one of the funniest pictures ever made in Italy-a picaresque podge of Don Quixote and La Dolce Vita, a Tom Jones with jetaway. Gassman is superbly absurd as a sex bomb stuffed with ravioli, and Director Dino Risi faultlessly paces and spaces the fun and games. In its whole intention, however, The Easy Life is clearly more tragic than comic. The party is over before the picture is over. The spectator lifts the last glass of champagne to his lips and finds it full of blood: the blood of a decent, bewildered...
