...Although the speech was interrupted by a bomb threat and there was a concern that protests would occur during the speech, the 600 audience members calmly received Wang, perhaps reflecting the greater nonchalance that pervaded the undergraduate population...
...more than many other Trinity members were willing to divulge. For much of the year, since Obama emerged as a leading presidential candidate, and since clips of longtime Trinity pastor Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.'s sermons appeared on YouTube, the church has weathered unprecedented scrutiny. There have been bomb threats. Reporters have brazenly called ailing Trinity members at hospices. So it's understandable that many members shooed away reporters - often by raising a hand, as if to say, "Don't even go there." Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, best known recently as friends of Barack Obama, disappeared in 1969 after two of their colleagues in the Weather Underground died while building a bomb. As a leader of the political wing of ETA, Lopez is believed to have ordered recent attacks, such as the May 14 car bomb that killed a member of the Guardia Civil. He was one of the negotiators at 2006 peace talks between ETA and the Spanish government, though his rigid stance may have contributed to their failure; he has also been cited by police sources as having ordered the December 30, 2006 bombing...
