...heard about all the issues there for years. I remember growing up hearing about it through USA For Africa. It's just been so embedded in my generation and those generations after mine - we're still hearing stories of the hardships that people there go through. Certainly artists like Bono have helped. I don't know how many artists have done it on that level historically, sacrificing nearly all their time to deal with these issues. It's inspiring. He's one of my heroes...

Remember in the early '80s when BONO suffered from a severe mullet? A stylist improved his look for the Joshua Tree tour in 1987 but made off with his Stetson. U2 learned the ex-staffer had his hat and other garb when she tried to auction them at Christie's in 2002. The band won a protracted lawsuit last week after Bono testified that the stylist's apartment might be an "Aladdin's cave" of stolen U2 memorabilia. Guess that means the band still hasn't found what it's looking...
...story on Obama reminded me of something Bono, one of your previous Persons of the Year, has said repeatedly: "America is more than just a country; it's an idea."
